Tight deadlines, endless cups of black coffee, and lack of sleep from the hustle and bustle of working life can take a toll on your mind and your skin.

Some common signs of office fatigue include:

Office Habits You Should Break NOW

If you want to save your skin from ageing prematurely or losing its healthy glow, make sure you stop doing these common habits!

Working Late Nights

It’s normal to work overtime during hectic periods. But try not to make it a habit – as working late can interfere with your natural sleep rhythm which could result in chronic fatigue and dark under-eye circles.

Don’t compromise your rest for work. Instead, make a daily to-do list of tasks you need to complete within a day and make sure you are being realistic with your goals.

Doing this daily helps you keep up with deadlines and be more organized with your work.

Neglecting Exercise

Finding time to exercise might seem like an impossible task to achieve, especially for individuals who work from 9-6.

But here’s why exercise is crucial as you get older:

● exercise releases endorphins which can help relieve the body of stress
● working out regularly helps you fight weight gain
● staying active helps you sleep better at night and keeps you energized during the day

Try to set aside time to exercise at least 3 times a week. Join a gym or enrol in fitness classes during the weekends or after office hours to get active.

Stress Eating

We’ve all been there – when you feel so overwhelmed with pressure that you snack on whatever’s convenient even though you are not hungry.

The problem is this: “whatever’s convenient” usually involves junk food from your office pantry that is high in salt, sugar and oil.

Studies have shown that consuming too much junk food can lead to inflammation. If you do feel the need to munch on something in the office, try to opt for fruits or nuts instead. They are better for your digestive system and skin!

Forgoing Sun Protection

Working in an enclosed space might keep you out of the sun, but don’t forget to protect your skin from blue light too.

Our computers, tablets and smartphone emit blue light which can cause your skin to look dull or age prematurely. In the digital age, these devices are usually unavoidable.

Nevertheless, make sure you incorporate SPF into your daily beauty regime to protect your skin.

Staying Underneath the Air-conditioning for Too Long

No one likes to work in sweltering hot environments but staying in the air-conditioning for too long doesn’t do your skin any good, either.

Low humidity and cold temperatures can dehydrate your skin. In the long run, your skin could get dull, dry and less flexible.

Protect your skin from office air conditioning by moisturizing it daily. You could also keep a hydrating mist on your table and give yourself a spritz of moisture from time to time.

Drinking Too Much Coffee

Most of us can’t go a day without a hot cup of coffee. But you might want to go easy on the caffeine.

It might be loaded with antioxidants, but coffee is known to raise stress levels, lead to breakouts and disrupt your sleep.

Try limiting yourself to one cup of coffee per day. Otherwise, swap the coffee with green juices or water.

Treating Tired Skin 

While these lifestyle changes might help prevent signs of ageing or fatigue, no one can escape time. Ageing is inevitable.
