Are you guilty of omitting sunblock?

You might want to think twice the next time you decide to forgo sunblock because overexposure to ultraviolet rays could actually lead to pigmentation. Unlike pimples, blackheads and acne, pigmentation lasts forever. So, you might want to start applying sunscreen, pronto!

But what happens when you already have hyperpigmentation?

Do you resign to your fate and invest in a high-coverage foundation?

Not quite, because there is a beauty procedure that can actually help to treat pigmentation in Singapore – the Picosure laser.

If you want to find out more about how picosure laser can help with pigmentation removal, look no further than our helpful guide.

What is Pigmentation?

Skin pigmentation is a natural process that determines the colour of your skin. The amount of melanin that is produced is often what influences how light or dark certain areas of your skin will appear. As long as there’s a balance in it (meaning the amount of melanin is normal), your skin colour will always look even.

However, overproduction of melanin could make patches and spots appear darker than surrounding areas. This condition is known as hyperpigmentation.

How Unwanted Pigmentation is Formed

A lot of external factors like sun damage, hormonal imbalances, or even injuries can bring forth unusual discoloration of the skin. These skin pigmentation disorders can  range from age spots and dark spots to sunspots. These spots, of course, are almost always irregular. They could make one’s skin look uneven and bumpy.

The parts of your body that are constantly exposed to the sun are more prone to hyperpigmentation.
Do your best to try to avoid too much sun exposure. The same can be said if abnormal pigmentation occurs because of an injury, cut, or acne scar. More often than not, people are tempted to pick at their acne, cut or scar that’s been healing. You should really refrain from doing this as this won’t do much good for your skin’s healing process.

Those who have darker skin are usually the ones that are more prone to getting hyperpigmentation since they have naturally higher amounts of melanin. However, all skin types regardless of colour are subject to pigmentation problems.

Then again, if you have already noticed pigmentation, you might want to consider going for laser treatment for your pigmentation in Singapore.

Why Use a Laser?

There are a lot of options to choose from when it comes to treating pigmentation disorders, but none can compare to the positive results that laser treatments can bring about. Lasers for pigmentation are able to reduce and completely eliminate any irregular pigmentation you might have. While doing so, it also avoids affecting the areas of normal tissue around it, leaving you with an even skin tone.

Take note that the type of laser that needs to be used is often based on the kind of pigmentation that needs to be treated. Clinics in Singapore often have a variety of such lasers at their disposal for correct and accurate treatment for any skin pigmentation disorders.

If you need laser treatment for your pigmentation concerns in Singapore, we recommend Picosure laser.

Picosure Laser: How It Treats Pigmentation

If you need an effective type of laser that can remove almost any kind of pigmentation and even tattoos, it is the Picosure laser.

It relies less on thermal effects as it’s usually delivered in very short bursts (think microseconds or “picoseconds”). It works in great synergy with your immune system by easily dispersing the pigments into smaller particles, making it easier for the latter to take care of the rest.
